My Satellite Setup
1 Thomson HD box, 2 Sky + boxes ordered, Octagonal LNB
My Location

Hi All,

This is my first post here .... I am so glad I found this forum as I am baffled by the options out there....

Let me appologise in advance if this is the wrong topic for my thread. My house is setup as follows:

1. An Octoganal LNB (8-way) on the dish

2. 3 rooms with Sky+ recievers in them (Room 1, Room 2, Room 3). This therefore accounts for 6 feeds from the satellite.

3. 2 Rooms with cables from the satelite for use potentially with Freesat in the future. (Room 4, Room 5) This accounts for the other two feeds from the Satellite.

Rooms 1 - 3 also have two wires running to the loft (where I hope to install a box (TBC) of some sort).

Room 4 & 5 also have a single cable to the loft each.

What I would like is for each room to be able to watch whatever is on in any of Rooms 1 -3. e.g When in Room 1, I can obviously control the Digibox thats in the same room but would additionally like to watch (not control) whatever is on Rooms 2 & 3.

If possible, I would like rooms 4 - 5 to be able to control any of Rooms 1 - 3 remotely. Ideally Room 4 control room 1 and Room 5 control Room 2... however not sure this is possible?

If any of the above make sense to any of you, please can you help me to identify what I need to buy to make the above posisble.

Thanks for your support.
Amrish

PS. Most of the cables are new and were fitted last weekend - dual shielded??

In addition to the system you have, also take a look at a loftbox for Rf relay and control.

I doubt you will be able to simply control all three from either room 4 or 5. You would end up controlling ALL three from one room only. Putting a remote eye in the second room would initiate a "fight" over control and whoever last sent a command would determine what is being viewed in both rooms.

EDIT
Just reread your post and see that you only want to watch what each of the three $ly+es is showing. This you can do by setting each of the $ly+ boxes to have a different output channel. You would then have to feed each of $ly+ outputs up to the loft and combine them before feeding them down to rooms 4 and 5 - and rooms 1, 2 and 3 if you want.

Thanks for the quick responses...

What is your recommendation on Loftboxes and methods to combine the three UHF feeds from the different Sky+ RF2 outputs?

I've seen the LoftBox from Global (tvlink).. is this the best one to go for or is there something better that may be more futureproof? On the global LoftBox - Why does the loftbox itself need a feed from the satellite directly? Is this a must? I am looking at the diagram that can be found at _http://www.tvlink.co.uk/downloads/185138500_LB.pdf.

As I described in my post, each stb is in a different room and is wired directly to the satellite. There are then wires between the room and the loft that I hope will work for distribution.

thanks again

Is the Global the best loftbox + combiner + tvlinks the best option to go for? Or is there a better loftbox that I should buy?

Thanks for your advice... greatly appreciated.

The Global loftbox should do as well as any of the competition, plus you will need to use something like the SPC4 which satelliteman mentions above, so you may as well go completely global.
