Thanks Rima I get it , I was a little confused about the position of the arms that secures the lnb's, but I think your design will work in PF and offset dishes. The lower feedarm its better if it is not rounded tube? I have two different feedarms, all rounded..

@trip82 Nice dishes you have! You already have adjustable feedarms, that means they can place LNb of LNB-changer in any place. Your task would be to make those feedarms proper size so they can do the job.

Hi everyone, what a nice topic, amazing skills here:-applause
Just a question, this lnb changer will work on a prime focus dish?

If it is a Cassegrain, no problem, otherwise I can see there being an issue with bolting the rotor somewhere where it will not hang off the feed arms, which could distort the reflector.

If that is fixed, then keep the C-band scalar ring on one end, and all the others at roughly 180 degrees so only the scalar is the main shadow point.

Thanks Rima will think how to adjust feedarms to place lnb changer there!!

Sorry Channel Hopper don't understand your point.. my dish it's not a cassegrain.. the motor will be placed at the very bottom of the dish, where starts the lower feedarm, like in image... I think it's the best solution in PF dish, because the motor weight

It will still be supported by the reflector though (unless you have a support extending down from behind the dish).

You will also require a gimble of sorts for the correct rotation into focus, and there will be further shadows on the reflector surface owing to none of the LNBs being hidden from view.

I'm thinking try this with 2/3 lnb's max, 2 (1xC 1xKu) or 3 (2xC 1xKu), do you think this will be a problem because the shadows on the reflector?

sorry what do you mean with "gimble of sorts...." are you talking about hinges? (on image circled green)

thanks

@trip82 your looking far to deep into this, the best way to do it on a pf dish is to do what ive pointed you too in beavs post, save up and buy the correct items :).

Ok martin, I really don't understand how that feedhorns works with two lnb's (C band & Ku), I admit I'm not a pro in this matter, far away from that... but will search about it... my main concern is about the performance, because I like feed hunting too.
Compared to an installation with single lnb (C or Ku), what is the best solution for you guys?

If this is a good solution why you guys with offset dishes don't use it instead the lnb changer by Trust1? ( not wanting to unmerit trust by this excellent idea of course)

thanks

.... Managed to do a little bit more in between the rain showers and generally miserable weather we have been having recently.

Note: This is definitely a design / build / design / build project as you go along ... although i will be filling up the changer plate to the limit with various lnb's , i can see even now that the whole structure could have been made a touch smaller and compact, but it is a learning curve as you go along. Pic shows just the Inverto Ka/Ku lnb and the Cband lump in place at the moment. Before i get too carried away with filling it up i have got to do some more construction at the bottom boom arm to dish area to something like that is on the 2.4 CM off-sets. Still loads of work to do

.... Ohhhhhhh Yesssss,
Another Cband lump on the opposite side of the changer and some different Ka band lnb,s in between filling all the gaps. That changer plate will be chocka (full up) :D

Please bare in mind that the build is still in "development" mode so will look a bit rough lol

... Yes, so would i. I was having a great time in the play pen this afternoon starting to knock up the extra support for the bottom boom .... it got to about 2.45pm, the sky went dark and then the heavens opened up AGAIN !. Picked the wrong time of year to do big mod jobs :(. The metal work in the pics will come a bit more obvious when it gets offered up to the bottom of the dish in days to come.

... Well, managed to get to 2.30pm today before the rains came and stopped play but managed to get the rear bottom boom arm bracket fabricated and placed in position to check alignment etc ready for final paint. I'm very happy that this is doing it's job and will repeat what has been said by others before me as to the importance of not relying on using the bottom lip of the CM1.8 dish as a sole support for any new lnb changer project or similar. The added rear bracket work is really beefing the installation up but is starting to add some serious extra weight. Using foresight i fabricated the AZ-EL mount to be over the top re: metalwork and bushes etc to compensate for the extra weight stresses .

Anyway, just a couple of pics to give you some idea of where the pics from the other day were leading to[/QUOTE]
