New Sky Subscription, same box

Hello,

I have a Sky subscription in Europe. Now I must to change to a new a service, because the old firm do not want to conutinue their service.
Can I use the same box or should I have problems to activate a new card or a subscription, because Sky has the box number.

the money goes direct from my credit card.
I have another credit card, when I get a new subscription.
I have heard, that Sky makes problems to activate a new subscription (a new card), when the box had a subscription in the past with a other name.
The old subscription will be shot off.
The new seller said, that this is not a problem and I need no new box.
Is this right ?
Can I get Racing UK with an European credit card. Some years ago I made a subscription, but they have shut it down after two months, because they said, that the credit card is not from the UK. This told me the old Sky card seller. They always get the money.

I really can't see the problem, if the money is taken by Sky from your credit card, then just keep on paying and everything will still work. Or am I missing something?

thanks for the reply.

The problem is, that the firm, where I get the Sky subscription said, that they can not provide an UK address anymore for the Sky account.
Sky has made changes, they said.
They want to close the sky subscription, if I can not give them an UK address. But I know nobody there. :-(
So I must make a new subscription with an other firm like Germansky, skytvcard etc and a yearly fee for providing the UK-address.
They said, that I can use the same box to acticate the card for the subscription. I have heard, that it makes a problem to activate cards with boxes, which used before for a other subscription.
Is this right ?

who is taking the money from your credit card?, if it is sky then just carry on paying them and forget the middleman.

He wants to shut it down, because he says, that he has problems with SKY because of changes.

There may be a problem, in that the company who obtained the card will surely have the address details and the unique password to be able to cancel the service.

Having said that, at least the poster will be left with a digibox and a FTV card, so will be able to sell it to an expatriate in Germany.

Is it enough when I only buy a new SKY Card with subscription or should I buy a new Sky box as well.
Many people said, that there is a great problem with used sky boxes to activate new Sky cards.
What do you think ?

I'm not sure whether their system would flag up a box as being paired to a recently cancelled card and whether even if it did, it would cause a problem.

As I assume that you don't have any contacts in the UK who can subscribe for you, you will need to go to another company to obtain a card and some of those will only supply the complete package. You can then as I mentioned previousy, sell your old box and card, may also be worthwhile making the jump to Sky+ at the same time.

I have found already a service, which is very cheap.
The seller told me it is no problem, when I only buy the sky card.
He said, that I have already a good box and there is no need for a new one.
I have told him, that I have already a subscription, which will cut off in the next days from another firm.
He said, that he thinks there is no problem. But I am not so sure as you.

Sky+ doesn't cost any extra now, but you will require a second feed from the dish for the second tuner.

You should be able to subscribe to Racing UK, it is added on to your normal subscription.

You can definitely subscribe to Setanta/Racing UK with a non UK/Ireland card as long as the card is a Visa or Mastercard. I know cos I'm using an Italian based Mastercard.
There is no problem using the same box, for all Sky know you bought it on Fleabay, end of story. Anyway you'll be using an agent so he'll handle the card pairing for you.
If you go with Sky + forget the above!

I am thinking at the moment, when my sky subscription will be closed.
The service say, that Sky will do it in 10-15 days.
Can SKY close subscription in the middle of the month, when they get the money from me at the beginning ?

I think the retailer, where I got my old subscription has too many subscriptions to one address, so he provide only with a fee and UK address.
