Dave went with my original suggestion and bought a DARL 3608 actuator from hm-sat-shop for just under €24. The motor section is as I suspected exactly the same size as the original Jaeger SMR 99G, the only difference being the connection between the motor and the gearbox. The steel spigot protroding from the Jaeger gearbox is about 1MM too thick for the nylon socket on the new motor but a large file had it fitting in about 10 minutes with no play and a good fit against the gear casing. The only small issue is the westerly limit switch which has no real adjustment apart from the default position and 180° round the nylon shaft so a software limit must be set.Hope this may help anyone else who comes up against a similar problem.</blockquote>
