hi there, we have a metronics dish for Astra 19.2
My Location

Hi there, looking for info.
In France we have two dishes for, Astra 19.2 and Astra 28.2.
Both our boxes work when connected to the Astra28.2 but no signal whatsoever when connected to Astra 19.2 since the beginning of October.
Any ideas why this could be?
Thanks for any info.

Upload a photo of the dishes, chances are the 19.2°E one has become misaligned. Otherwise it could be the cable (water ingress) or LNB. Are both dishes connected to a single cable (so both satellites can be received on one receiver) or are there two separate cables, one from each dish?

there are two dishes, one for each satellite. The one for Astra 19.2 had a new LBN a couple of years ago. The receiver is a TNT sat receiver with card.
The reception was intermittent in September.

If the dish is solidly mounted then as the signal has deteriorated over time it sounds like either water ingress in the cable, corrosion in the connector or the LNB has deteriorated. You could also check the whole cable for any physical damage.

Are there any signal strength/quality meters on the receivers? Good strength with zero quality would point to a dish alignment issue.

I have just realised that there is no signal coming to the receiver..... I just don't understand that the there was intermittent reception, ie every day after 4.30pm it went off.sat reception.jpg

Do either of your receivers have a blind scan function? My best guess is the LNB has given up.

How old is the cable? Burgundy is not an excessively hot region in the way that PACA is and I've replaced cable that has gone hard and cracked after only 10 or so years. This wouldn't show itself as a problem until it rains and could be mistaken for rain fade.

Doesn't guarantee it isn't the cause of the problem.

True. But the first job he needs to do is to remake all the F Connectors.

You’ve clearly ruled out any problems with both boxes and f connectors at the box end. How about swapping f connectors at the LNB end to rule in or out LNB problems on the 19.2 dish. Sounds like your 19.2 dish focussing was marginal in the first place and adverse weather finally pushed it fully beyond signal reception. Probably as simple as nudging the 19.2 dish back into focus and tightening up the mountings
