Thanks to a double solar outburst at the end of last week.

Best time to spot is earlier rather than later as heavy cloud is on its way.

Its clearish in the Midlands and i can't see anything other than light pollution:-lmao

Don't think you will see anything that far south. I spoke to a friend in Aberdeen who said its amazing. I lived there for 8 years and nothing like this ever happened.

I move away and then this, Bloody typical :-lol

My folks in Cannock saw one very intense one at the last solar max 10 years ago. The sky was completely brick red here apart from an perfectly circular hole in it overhead! Fantastic.

We are in the upswing on the solar cycle again so we may get lucky again - and any night I get to see anything I'll post the info so folks can go and look to see if its visible.

Just took a walk up the lane to see if I could catch sight of the Aurora from 50 degs N. Cloud parted for thirty seconds to permit view of Betelgeuse, Bellatrix and Jupiter, then closed in and Cornwall's liquid sunshine began to fall again. Now soaked to the skin and hoping sympathetic wife will ply me with cocoa before bed.

Already started. And it's an M9 flare, one of the most destructive.

The protons released are due to hit Mars as well

Now downgraded to M8.7, so not quite as dangerous

Anyhow, many flights over the pole(s) have been rerouted tonight, to reduce the effects of radiation.

...Had to be content with pictures and reports from around the UK ..
Certainly nothing was visible at my location ..
..but then a clear view to the Horizon due North was a requirement ..
Not possible here ..and light polution nor weather conditions helped.
Typical..

Looking further afield (ie North) I'm greener than many of the images.

A live webcam for your perusal (some of the stuff from 2 hours ago was spectacular)
