Ok, due to my houses existing wiring, I need 6 LNB outputs but not all can be supplied by a Multi-Switch!

If I can still find a source of the Multi-Switches that work off a Quad LNB's (not a Quattro's), would the following work:

Parts to Buy:
1 x Multi-Switch (Quad Compatible) 4 Sat Inputs , 1 Ariel Input, 8 Sat/Ariel Outputs.

1 x Octo LNB (8 independent outputs)

10 Meters of 4 Core Colour Coded Sat Cable

10 Meters of 2 Core Sat Cable

Set-up:
Connect 4 (out of 8) LNB ports to the Multi-Switch
Connect existing Ariel to Multi-Switch
Connect 2 more of the Octo LNB ports direct to an independent room.

I guess all I need to know is if the Quad compatible Multi-Switches will work equally as well with an Octo LNB (obviously only using 4 of the outputs), I can't see any reason why not to be honest.

Vision and Spaun produced switches that were quad LNB compatible, not sure if you can still get them.
The options are either a Quattro and switch or an Octo LNb, both should give the same end result.

So if I can't get a switch that will work of a Quad or Octo LNB, I will have to get a Quattro LNB (to work off the regular switches) and a Quad LNB on an arm?

An Octo LNb should be ok for your set up or go the Quattro/switch route which could give you more than 8 feeds, depending on switch :)

I can't go one or the other, I need to do a combination.

The reason being, I have existing cabling running in two different parts of the house.

One part of the house requiring me to use a switch to pass both Ariel & Sat feeds to certain rooms.

In the other part of the house, I just need two lnb inputs for a sat pvr.

So my original plan would use 6 of 8 port's on the octo.

If the Octo won't work with a switch, I will have to get two lnbs (a quattro & a quad), the quattro to give me 4 compatible ports for the switch-end of the house and the quad to pull off the two standard ports for the pvr.

Hope I've explained the situation better :-)

Because of the extra losses in a multiswitch it's usually recommended to go up a size in satellite dish - could this be a problem for you?

I don't have a problem yet, I am planning an update to my system and checking if its going to work.

You getting me worried now, losses was not a consideration.

I thought if a short run from the LNB to the Switch inputs was done, the switch (if decent) should manage the signal quality is as good as originally received for the on-going outputs :-(

Factors depend on number of multi-switch outlets, mains or receiver powered, manufacture of switch etc.

Which is why, just in case, a larger dish is usually fitted!

Think the vision 508A with Q2 in the link above has been replaced with the 508S (quattro only).
