Bloody strange satellite - l.o.l.

Aye, it is a reet quirky lad this 38.0 East.

I do have the benefit of the North/South divide on this one, it certainly seems more friendly for reception in a southern location.
The reverse trend seems to be in operation for some of the Russian stuff, particularly from 36.0 East and for some of the Scandinavian stuff..

Anyway, while I am here, I grabbed a few more screenshots of locked frequencies, have updated the list and attached the new pictures below.

Frequencies locked to date with one screenshot per frequency:

01. 3717V, SR12000 (Dunya)

At my location which is not far from you I find that 4038H, SR6151 is the strongest transponder that is consistently available most of the day.

If you have both Ku-Band and C-Band on your dish at the same time you could align the dish to 39.0E in Ku-Band to get a close reference for Azimuth. Then, nudge the dish West by the number of pulse counts equal to one degree.

Today's first offering is a few more screen captures of locked frequencies.
The updated list and screen captures are below.

I think I may have got as far as I can with the current configuration, there is probably one more frequency I can lock later today when the signal level increases.
It's probably "tweak time" and adjustment of some variables if I am to get some of the more elusive frequencies. There are some I will never get, they are too far below a lock, however, there might be a few "hopefuls" within reach?

Nice one, quite a few of these frequencies seem to be time dependent.
I noticed that mid evening seems better for some of them.

The other thing to consider is that 40.0 East, although two degrees away has some very strong signal levels that can have an impact if they are in close proximity to frequencies on 38.0 East.
In the past, I found that where there was a clash of frequencies, a nudge of the dish slightly further West to get away from 40.0 East improved the signal level.
However, too far West and you can lose the frequency on 38.0 East, its a balancing act that sometimes gets a lock.

Yes, very finiky satellite to catch, a very fine balance indeed..

Hi .... Odd that this is your strongest .... I,v never locked this one even with the 3 m dish :-)

3799V, SR5500 (SAB TV) is the one that held all day here yesterday on 2.4 c.m.

A blind search with 2.4c.m. has just brought in 3759 H 1003 Suno .... strong signal but no picture ?

suno.jpg other wise i,m just getting the same 3 as yesterday

@nelson_b

The Suno frequency is a couple of radio stations (just noticed, @scopus reports the same re Radio)

This is a real odd satellite, I noticed yesterday in post 221 from @John that he had locked 3834H, SR6500 (8XM). I think this was one of your original target frequencies that you allocated some time to in order to achieve a lock?
I am about 1.7dB below a lock here for that one in what looks like a favourable installation location but I have never had a flicker of a lock on it.

Indeed yes - 3834H, SR6500 (8XM) is the t.p. i was originally chasing ... and eventually succeeded with the 3.m dish, it has music video channels .. and is the only channel on this sat that i,v actually spent time watching ......

Not so much of a language barrier with music channels :-)

I,m nowhere near locking it here with 2.4 .... at 6.6 db

If I get time today I hope to carry out some fine tuning to see if I can improve signal levels and lock a few more frequencies.
Looking at the list of unlocked frequencies there might only be three or four where I have any chance, the others seem to be no hopers.

Before moving on to some fine tuning I have uploaded a couple of screen grabs from the last two frequencies I locked from the baseline configuration of the dish
The updated list and screen captures are below.

Frequencies locked to date from baseline configuration.
