That,s an impressive list @moonbase -

Somewhat puzzled by the recent results from this 38 E sat, i swung the 3.m dish round to have a look here.
It seems that things have changed massively from my reception point of view ... earlier this year i was able to blind scan around 90 -100 channels on average from this sat with the 3m dish, and struggled with the one transponder i was most interested in .... just before i moved the dish round to the western satellites - a month or so ago i noticed that my troublesome transponder - 3837 H 6500 was regularly holding a good signal , around 1db over lock (constant)... . but i did not bother to look at other transponders.

A blind scan yesterday and this morning with the 3m. now only reveals 25 - 30 channels ... and the previously troublesome transponder being the strongest at over 11.0 db

DSC04354-Optimized.JPG ... i now only get a handful of transponders and a couple of those are borderline, it seems the north south divide on this sat has increased overall :-(

I will monitor for a while and make a list of the ones i,m getting - and the d.b. levels from them.

Agreed, these seems to have been quite a few changes to the channel line ups and signal levels.
Oddly, at 8.0dB I am 1.4dB below a lock for your "troublesome" transponder from my supposedly favourable UK location, whereas you are 1.8dB over the lock level for 3834H, SR6500.

My first fine tune experiment today resulted in a fine mess.
I adjusted the scalar position along the feed barrel from 30mm along the barrel to 0mm on the barrel (flush with the feed rim aperture)
Result - loss of 22 of the 27 frequencies previously locked !!

It is not a disaster and loss of frequencies with tweaking is to be expected. I will try a few more scalar locations at this specific focal distance to see how things pan out.
It does illustrate how fickle C-Band reception can be on these quirky satellites such as 38.0 East.

Too true MB - to get the absolute max knat's Knacker performance re: the scalar positioning on my 2.2 Elite/Precision it was down to adjusting 1mm at a time i kid you not - and then checking also accurate distance measurements from the outer edge of the scalar to the dish edge in at least four different positions .
** Not forgot your other request btw - multi tasking here at the moment

Thanks for sharing your readings.
'ere down Saarf, I am still nowhere near to a lock for what used to be your troublesome transponder (3837H, SR6500).

Nice. As an experiment, when you get chance, lob one of your Norsat pll on your Vertical port - i'll explain later

Today's offering is fairly paltry, just two new frequencies locked.
The newbies are a result of the first stages of scalar tweaking, no changes yet to the feed rim aperture distance with respect to the dish.

The updated list and screen shots of the two new frequencies locked are below.

Today's offering is miserly, just one new frequency locked.
No further scalar tweaking for this one, just signal level evolution over the day, with generally higher signal levels in the evening.

Attached below are a couple of TS Analyser pictures for a pair of frequencies I found in a blind scan of 38.0 East.
One of them is with modulation of 32APSK, the other is reported to have modulation of QPSK-S2, neither are listed on Lyngsat or Flysat.

They are probably data transponders of some type?
I have not added them to the list, these boys are more for the wavy line men than the picture men.

Might have a look for these with the Octagon receiver at some point

Had a little play around with the l.n.b. and scalar position on the 3.m last night ... (l.n.b 2 mm back - scalar 2mm forward ) and doubled the channel count to 60 ... Locked a further 5 transponders ... without losing 3837 H 6500 ...

3770V, SR7700 (City)
3846V, SR6600 (Starlite)
3952V, SR2969 (Madani)
4081V, SR3254 (Atv Pakistan)
4101V, SR2800 (Roze)

Too windy up here today for any tinkering ... difficult to hold a lock on any t.p,s
(also too many other jobs on the to do list currently)

Well done, it is surprising how a couple of mm can make such a difference. The Madani frequency is one that often sems to be hovering above and below a lock for me.
Stiil not even a sniff of your "troublesome" frequency of 3834H, SR6500 (Apna) 'ere down Saarf.

I got the two data transponders that are ACM to lock with a TBS 6903 card and EBS Pro, they are both still active today so might be regulars. I will scan again with an Octagon SF8008 to see if it picks them up but I cant remember locking them previously with the SF8008.

I'm back with two new locked frequencies achieved by a little more scalar tweaking.

Today I tested some things on Packsat, to get all positions well I have to create 2 positions to get optimal values on some transponders.
Between 3834H (Step 2510, western) and 4037V (Step 2528, eastern) I have 18 steps on the positioner to get the optimum for both.
Averaging to step 2519 is also not possible because then 3834H and 4037V become too weak and no longer work.

For all frequencies below 4000 MHz on Paksat there is the chance of interference from the Russian satellite at 40.0 East which is a very powerful satellite.
I have found that by stepping the dish to the West and further away from 40.0 East I got increased signal levels on the Paksat frequencies that were below 4000 MHz.

Paksat can be a "two position satellite" for optimal signals.
1. Slightly to the West of the true position for best signal levels below 4000 MHz
2. On the true position for best signal levels above 4000 MHz

@John

In relation to the 5G filter discussion in the 40.5W topic I did a spectrum scan of 38.0 East with my Promax in both H and V polarities.
The screen shots are attached below.

Would you please be able to cast your "5G guru" eyes over my two spectra and let me know if you think I am getting 5G interference?
I set the red marker line at 3700 MHz which is just below the lowest C-Band frequency on 38.0 (3717V).
The spectra are inverted as is the norm with the Promax, ie, higher frequencies to the left and lower frequencies to the right.

Promax Settings were:
Span = Full Band
Satellite Band = C-Band
L.O. = 5150
