Hi all. The small diseq H-H units can't handle a large dish (say a 1.8M). The Ajak Horizon180's can be found used in the USA & the Jaeger 1224's can be found used in Europe. Sadly I have never seen an Ajak Horizon180 for sale in Canada
So I was very surprised to see an ad for a large satellite motor. A man that takes down home television antenna towers & old satellite dishes kept an old Paraclipse H-H motor. He mentioned that a piece was broken off the part that goes over the pipe. So I was happy to find out when I bought it that he kept the broken piece. The units are made from cast aluminium so I had a local shop weld it back together. Paraclipse Antennas in the USA made a chain drive H-H motor for their 12-14 feet aluminum mesh dishes. I think the chain drive motors were made in the years 1990-1996. The early chain units had a Von-Wiese 1/10hp motor & a Von-Wiese gearbox. The later chain units had a Venture motor & a Sipco gearbox. The gears are all metal in the gearbox with some plastic ones in the motor. Even though the chain is driven by a metal cog it is fairly quiet. You can see how rusty the chain was. I have refurbished the unit with new grease, INOX hardware, & new chain. Some pictures below of my unit & other peoples from back in the day. The circuit board is the limit switch assembly. The housing that goes over the pipe is 8 inches tall. The complete thing weighs in at a whopping 50lb! The support section where the dish attaches is 24mm thick aluminium.
I have no doubts it will move & support my 1.8m offset Prodelin dish but I'm toying with the idea to attach my 3M CM PF dish to it
