Technomate CM1500+, 80cm dish fixed on hotbird. Art sport card.

Ok following on from my last post, I am about to invest in a technomate dish and receiver(with viaccess) and an art sports viewing card so that I can watch ART sports 1-4 for english premiership games.

Now I have read a couple of posts referring to the poor picture quality of these channels.

Can someone confirm if this is true? And am I therefore better off not investing in an art sports card and arrange to pick up games on TPS instead?

Advice is most appreciated, thanks.

Oh and i live in leeds if that helps.

Cheers

with a good signal the art channels come in pretty good.plus you have the option of changing the language to english audio, whereas with TPS its in french.my advice stick with the art sport.

Ok thanks for the tip TWAG, I'll go with art sports :-thumbup

Also, I notice you live in Holland, what size dish do you use?

i used to subscribe to ART but didnt renew it after 6 months.... because of poor quality

firstly the picture quality is poor, the fact i watch it on a 42" screen makes it worse, as bigger the picture the worse it gets!!!

and on Art sport 2 the sound as really bad, crackling and popping so bad i turned the sound off for the fear of damaging my speakers!!! rendering the english commentry a waste of time.

i have found that without ART i still manage to watch the games for free anyway, on other channels

PS the sound problem may have been fixed now.... not tuned in this season, i know it is only on Art Sport 2, but that was the channel Man U always seemed to be on.

Just my 2 penneth :)

have you thought about a DigitAlb card?

do you have to pay for TPS foot & TPS star or can you patch your box to get them for free?

Receiver's like Technomate, Star sat etc, can be patched to receive these channels. :-thumbup

TPS is wide open (at the moment)

That didn't last long, cause it's shut now.

ART 2 still has the popping noise, its so bad you can barely watch, its very audible and hard on the hearing, but apart from that, ART has the best prem coverage. I find the pic quality ok, maybe TPS is a bit better, but I dont have a 42" monster to watch it all on. Digit ALB is a good alternative, although it doesn't show as much footy as ART, but the package overall is good considering you get decent movies, tv shows, and mature content.

You can because your receiver is patched.

I had a digital alb card for 6 months. It was fine, good pic and sound plus English (Sly) commentary.
