I recently purchased a Technomate 1500ci+ receiver from ebay that had already been patched. I also bought a 6month art card from ebay with the intention of using it in the Technomate to watch the football.

The problem came today, i received the card(sealed in wrapper) and after inserting it, it doesnt seem to work. After inserting it i get the message 'smart card initializing', however all ART chanels are still scrambled. Does this problem sound like a card problem or a receiver problem? Also, does the fact that the receiver is patched affect viewing cards (and if so, how do i un-patch it?)

This is my first post on this forum and any help will be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks.

Welcome to the forum tomarter

As far as I know there should not be problem as I have read threads recently about the same subject. If the card is in the correct way up and it is a genuine card the patch should not affect it but it depends on which patch they have used

hi,gold chip on the art faces downwards when placing into the technomate, patch can be switched on and off by going to system information section on the technomate menu and entering the numbers 2004 with the remote.

Ive now tried removing the darkman patch, and using firmware from the technomate website. I still have the same problem with all ART channels scrammbled with card inserted. Ive also tried numerous factory resets to no avail... Anyone got any other ideas? Thanks alot to those offering suggestions.

try a viaccess cam with the card otherwise it could have been one of those that have been switched off

Hi tomarter,
I have seen the same problem posted elsewhere, first have you gone into the card menu and checked if the card is recognised?
The person, with the same problem, checked the card on a friends receiver, and saw it was working.
He then checked the signal strength he was receiving on ART channels and after this was fine he had to do a factory reset, on his Technomate, and this got it to work.
The one thing he forgot to do was a back up as a factory reset wipes out all your settings.
Best wishes
Mickha

The card seems to be recognised as in the smart card menu the card number info and expiry date is present. Ive tried a few factory resets and also, my signal strength/qualty is good. (both over 70%). I cant think of anything else it could be other than the card. Just hope the seller sees it that way and refunds or replaces. Thanks again everyone.

Since posting my last message I have contacted the seller, who assured me the card he sold me was fine. He suggested I buy an official viaccess cam from him to use in my technomate receiver. I agreed and today I received my card and new cam. I still cant receive any ART channels which still all display the 'scrambled channel' message when i select them. In a last ditch attempt to resolve this problem which has been going on for over a month, I have decided to buy another cheap receiver. This is my first experience with using subsription cards other than SKY and it hasn't been a pleasant one. I can now see why so many use SKY SPORTS even though its so damn limited and expensive.

After buying this latest receiver, can you now view Art channels?

Your E**y dealer/seller is a "teller of tales".

Your Technomate has VA embedded, so there was no need to purchase an additional Cam.

There are only three possible reasons left as to why channels remain scrambled.

1. Card is not active
2. Patch corruption in your receiver.
3. Faulty receiver. (most unlikely)

Possible solution, try your card in a friends stb. (if channels remain scrambled, card is switched off)
If card unscrambles & channels ok, then either patch glitch or faulty receiver.

You will now need to remove all patches via (2004) & return stb to factory state.
If still no channels showing, faulty receiver

I have not yet bought a new receiever, but i aim to in the next few days. Unfortunately, the only friend I have with a non-sky receiver has recenlty left the country. The only way for me to check the card once and for all is to get another receiever. In response to the patch suggestions, the receiver came pre-patched with a patch cd. I tried the card with both the patch on and off. I have also factory resetted a couple of times. My ART card seems to have been activated with details of when the card expires in the menu and something about maturity level (not sure what this is) and password change options. The receiver also seems to pick up FTA channels fine which suggests its not the receiever thats at fault. All sign's point to a dodgy card and a bad e-bayer.

Another idea I had was to check my card in the local pub equipment as they receieve ART Sport channels (presumably with a viaccess card). Im almost at the end of the line with this as the strain is causing me to go bald! Well thats my excuse anyway. Thanks for everyones help, it is appreciated. I will let you know how i get on soon.

I would be inclined to try the card at the local pub. That way you would resolve once and for all whether the card was the issue. This might save you the outlay on another receiver! I have used an art card with various patches in the 1500CI without any problem - although I do believe there was an issue with one particular patch (I didn't load that one).

I had "thought" that the techno needed to be patched for the art card to work (Note - the card DOES work with the patch tuned off, I have just tried it!), though. It wouldn't be the case that yours has the only patch with the art problem - doesn't explain the problem with the CAM though. Pub - I think!!
