Not famous maybe, but pertinent to satellite hobbyists.

Translated from Dr Dish site -

"Klaus Schumacher is dead. He had begun everything in the south of Brazil with a 3-Meter antenna, which pointed toward ASTRA 19E. Similar remainder signals of German transmitters provoked Klaus Schumacher and in such a way became from "the small “antenna a self - build antenna with 8 meters diameter. During the day now the desired transmitters could be received. But during evening there were strong signal break-downs. Untiringly and usimg his own the determination Klaus Schumacher looked for a solution. Om his last visit to Munich he said: "…. I want to solve the problem, before I leave".

Before he could find a full solution, Klaus Schumacher died unexpectedly on 3 July 2011 in his 85th year. For my family, for the team and for me he was a friend. His patronages in Munich - paired with always new ideas - we all will miss."

R.I.P Klaus.

Thats very sad. He was a totally amazing guy. A real "can do" person, in a world with too many negative people.

Unlikely to see someone like him again.:(

Am I right in thinking he was featured in Telesatellite magazine a good few years back?

A sad loss.

His 8 meter dish video on YouTube seems to be gone. I should have recorded it. Sad to see him go for sure.

Very sad.

I think this man deserves something more solid for generations to remember him, than online posts. Some monument or memorial table will be nice.

Sorry to hear that Mr Schumacher passed away some 10 years ago.
Building a 8 meter dish seems is monstrous exercise.
Whereabouts in the South of Brazil was he located
Does anyone know the quality of the signal strength or picture quality Mr Schumacher received?
I was hoping to be able to use a much smaller dish.
Are any European satelites and channels available with a smaller dish?

It doesn't take much to discover his determination.

Go search.

Welcome!

Since you are in the UK there are MANY European sats that you can get with your "smallish" dish - just "look around" this forum and you will find a lot of information.!

Hi Jeallen01
Thank you for your message.
I have no problems with my satellite set up in the UK. I have multiply LNBs on my 90 cms dish and get most satellites in range
I spend time in the South of Brazil but have found it difficult to find information on satellite dishes and set ups. Not many Europeans around in the area. I am close to the east coast about 6 kilometres inland. I have not as yet been able to set up a satellite dish as it seems difficult to get a large sized dish.
