Real Digital about to launch

I was at the IP&TV show yesterday and found out that Real Digital are about to make an announcement in the next week about them launching. I believe a press announcement will be made and test transmissions will follow very shortly.

I also managed to get a couple of photos of the first box and their standard remote.

They have been on the verge of making announcement for three years now.

Every promise has been broken.

Well the receiver looks to be a new model as it doesn't look like any of the current Fortec Star range externally.

Still waiting (what will come first, the promised Humax software update for the Foxsat HDR or Real Digital launch!).

Re: Humax HDR, there is a Beta available on the Humax site which many people are now successfully using.

I don't think it will ever become a full release, though (The key employee left recently).

Hmm, current s/w is 1.00.13 and the beta is 1.00.15. Wonder what happened to 1.00.14?

It's all gone to co*k because Bob Hannent has left (Chief Technologist).

But that v15 appears fine - main benefit is it stops loss of clock (and, consequently, Recording Schedule) upon Power failure when in Standby.

I am going to install myself soon, as we did in fact lose much of our RecSched during our recent week in Scotland, all due to a brief interruption to the elastic trickery (And, of course, being on hols is one of the key reasons for setting an exhaustive RecSched!).

Downloading the last Beta version put me off Beta from Humax. Fortunately they were quick with the fix.

Well I've read good things about this particular one and have just installed it myself without any problem at all.
