Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but despite the rumours of some months back, there is no other box that supports the 4.2.2 format except the Quali and of course you probably know will cost you in the region of £600 for it. Of course you could purchase a Technisat Skystar to install in your pc and download the Progdvb programme which I understand will enable you to decode the 4.2.2 feeds, also if you check within the forum there are postings about also being able to see some HD content [ Not possible with the Skystar USB version] hope this helps

I presume you are talking about the Skystar2 PCI card?

Will this card (with the appropriate software) fully decode & receive all 4.2.2 feeds on my PC?

Is this easier to setup than a Quali-tv for a relative amateur in this field?

it depends on the software decoder(tv tuner) or hardware decoder(ST:cool:.If you're using any kind of dvb-s tv card or tv box. It only concerns your software decoder. As far as i know VLC decoder can do 4:2:2, you can use DVBDream with VLC decoder. Any DVB-S tv tuner could be fine. What i would recommend is TBS DVB-S card 8920:) VLC decoder and DVBDream are free downloadable. If you want to watch 4:2:2 on your TV, you can use some device called PCmebox to extend your computer HD video, audio and USB control(wireless keyboard or mouse)to TV.

If you can get the signal onto the the PC bus (for example with the Skystar) then just install elecard or Nero8 (my preferred) codec and watch using DVBDream - that way you don't have to create video graphs - because DVBDream does it for you.
