can get them too mate, on E2 \ Technomate 0.1db LNB

maybe the 42.5e above was just a lack of signal issue for me (1.2m) - or my location..
its strange, ive been doing some blind scan tests this morning to post up.

part of my testing was low SR tests. the low SR TP i picked up on 16e in the week - i cannot get now....

nice sunny day too... very odd.

Lowest symbol rate transponders found & working with the TM5502HD & 5302HD
The Symbol rate range on these receivers is 700 to 45,000

Intelsat 14 @ 45° west
11605 H 988 2/3 DVB-S/MPEG-2 China Radio International

Hispasat 30W-6 @ 30° west
11484 H 767 7/8 DVB-S/QPSK Data

Eutelsat 8 West B @ 8° West
12620 V 890 1/2 DVB-S/QPSK Contact Radio France

Some of the other receivers in my collection that can go lower than 1000 S/R but only if the receivers Blind Scan can find it,
If you try to add lower than 1000s/r on these receivers you will get an error message "Invalid symbol rate Try again !!"

TM6900HD Super+ & TM6902HD
The Symbol rate range on these receivers is 800 to 45,000
i've just picked up a TM-5402 M3 - cheap - it cannot add, a lower than 1000 SR TP (namely 12639 - V - 940 on 23.5e) - says invalid symbol rate.
there must be a fundemental difference in the 5402, to the 5502, and 5302....

William didn't mention the receiver you have purchased, and yes the other models are from a different production.

i didnt say he did - i was including a personal observation into a relevant post, which may prove useful to others, if we all stayed quiet on "little finds" - forums wouldn't be very useful to others. its about sharing knowledge - not keeping it a secret

something else worth noting.... when i blind scanned 23.5 using 4mhz steps, it didn't find the above TP ( 12639 - V - 940 ) on 23.5e - I then repeated the blind scan using 1mhz steps, and it then found the TP but wouldn't lock it afterwards, it showed no signal and got itself into a state.

Once again, the 5402 is part of a family of receivers that may have a Technomate badge, but share none of the characteristics of others from the brand. The blue background with hand drawn dish is seen on the TM6800/6900 receivers, both of which have the same limitations of symbol rate, though they are very good in their own right.

I would suspect those in charge found there was more profit in the 'hidden menu' and emulations, much like the Humax 5400 before it, rather than authorise a hardware change (along with components sourced from a third party supplier) that would benefit just a few, when MCPC viewing was the norm.

Its been a long time since I looked at the reference books, but the 18/27MHz filters found in the tuners from Sharp, Alps and others would have struggled with transponders nearing a 1MS/s rate.

The frequency of 12639 V, SR 940 has a carrier width of 1.27 MHz. Your scan with 2MHz steps missed it, presumably due to the step being greater than the carrier width. The 1Mhz step scan had a smaller step than the carrier width and picked it up.

I tested a TM-5302 receiver on the 12639 V frequency with a blind scan. The TM-5302 locks it and stores it available to use, I expect a TM-5502 would be the same.

thanks mate - interesting
the tm-5402 refused to play it after locking it.
the firmware is very different looking to the 5402 - is 5302 firmware same as 5502 ? i read somewhere, the 5302 and 5502 were the same receiver, except, one allowing fitting of internal HDD, and some other things like that...not sure if true or not

The TM-5302 and TM-5502 have the same menu structures. The TM-5302 has a smaller case and is missing the CI slot.
Apart from the CI slot their functionality seems to be identical.

Can you solder? If yes then building a Minitiouner may be of i

Despite its age I think that when it comes to the blindscan the "old" Openbox sx6 is almost unbeatable.
Only the DM900 and SiLabs2169D do this too, I believe.
Find frequencies with a sr of 274 through the blindscan, I don't think the 8008 can do that.
It reads these frequencies, but find them through the blindscan ??
its a good point, why don't they have a better reputation for blind scanning...being able to blind scan a 264 SR TP is pretty impressive, no...thought it might be in @william-1 list....but doesnt feature.

Another good receiver at picking up low SR in blind scan is my Icecrypt 6600HD, getting on a bit and no longer madeView attachment 134547
question, on your icecrypt 6600 - if you blindscan 30w - does it hang at 10% of scan?

Don't know, but I will try it.
thanks - it does on my newly acquired Openbox SX4, and it looks to have the same menus so it might be the same STB under the hood, also 45w locks up during blindscan at 78% - very disappointing.

Hello ,

This "problem" is known.

In fact, the Sx6 (4) finds data frequencies with certain peculiarities (often continuous data) and it tries to find programs on that frequency, logically it cannot, but it continues endlessly. This is why you have the impression that it is blocked.

This is very easily avoided by doing a blindscan search ending or starting by avoiding this frequency.

For example: it blocks on 11670 H, you do a search on 10700/11660 H and another search on 11680/12750 H.

This is the advantage of the openbox with which we can limit the search for blindscan (which the sx88 cannot do for example)

These "problems" are rare (hispasat is known by all dxers who have an Openox Sx6 (4).

I did run a full blindscan on 30W and 45W with no lock ups on the Icecrypt 6600HD. It did however download a couple of data channels off 45W which it stored, but trying to access them AFTER blindscan did lock up the box, power recycle sorted it
