my superjack vbox 2 has had an annoying buzzing noise coming from it whenever its plugged into the mains since new.

is there any way I can change the psu in it to something else as its getting rather annoying at night time as that's all you can hear when its quiet.

I'm not a electronics expert so I would need some advice on what to change it to.

i've attached pictures of the vbox inside especially the label on the psu in it

The thing with the print on it is the transformer which reduces the mains voltage to the voltage needed by the V box - as it says on the label, it has 2 windings each providing 16v @ 1.7 A which are somehow connected together to a lead which plugs on to the circuit board. Buzzing transformers are not unheard of short of replacing it there is an article that suggests some ways to help the problem. h__p://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/showthread.php?t=46198

yes I did ask about it but had other things to sort so forgot about the issue. this time it seems to be more noticeable and save the hassle of unplugging it every night.

so any ideas how to fix or what would be a good replacement.

An old trick to stop the transformer windings from oscillating was to squirt some superglue into the windings. Needless to say do it with the unit disconnected from the mains, and it is an at your own risk fix !

Best done when the unit is in open air as well, cyanoacrylate is not nice to inhale.
