Hi

My Sky box went pop and now I have decided to get a card and use my PC for satellite TV.
I have had a look at the local pc warehouse website (Novatech) but they only have two cards on there, both around £25.

I have 2 cables coming in from my dish, giving me the possibility of watching and recording (yes?) and would like to know what cards peope would recommend I get.

I plan on using WMC for viewing and have both pci and pciex16 slots free. Also thinking of using a WMC remote to control the whole setup so a crappy infrared control which is bog standard with some cards (or used to be) will not be used.

Please ask me questions back if there are important things I haven't thought about, as I'd like to get the setup right, with the right card without too much fannying about.

Thanks

Llew

I would go for either the Hauppauge WinTV Nova HD S2 or the Skystar HD2 if within your price range. Both work with WMC with their latest drivers. Providing you want to view HD channels too; it'd seem false economy not have that facility, unless you're really restricted to a lower budget.

Dual tuner cards are more expensive if you want to record channels other than those on the same TP/Polarisation than the one you are viewing.

Cheers for that info

Am currently watching some cards on ebay. Hopefully get one WinTV Nova HD S2 for around £40. fingers crossed.

Noticed these only have one input from the dish tho, nevermind, sure it'll do me just fine.

Thanks again :)

Hi, I'm using the TBS 6922, works fine for me with WMC, but that's a single tuner card, if you are looking for a dual card, check the TBS 6981
