Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me with an issue I have been experiencing (specifically with ITV channels)
I was trying to add satellite channels to my media center but noticed a problem with ITV having Audio Description enabled by default with no way seemingly to force the english track.

I have taken my media center out of the equation for now and I am just using VLC with my Telestar Digibit R1 - Each channel by default is set to Track 1 [NAR] and Track 2 [ENG] won't play when clicked. When I change the PID, the default track 1 [NAR] is silent and track 2 [ENG] will work but it needs to be a manual selection which is no good for recording/pvr

#EXTINF:-1,ITV4 1

Thanks

Welcome to the forum, I was under the assumption that audio description is enabled by default on any transmitted channel that offers such a service, normally it is the medium it is being played on that controls such things for example on my Samsung TV, I have to switch it on to get audio description and then all channels use audio description that offer the service. I am not sure what the two links are for as they are unreachable

This seems strange, both audio tracks should have the same characteristics (they’d both be MP2 audio for ITV SD channels via satellite), so there shouldn’t be any compatibility issues.

Audio description is just a second audio track broadcast with the programme. The receiver/TV just selects it in the same way as changing the audio to a different language (on channels that offer it), it’s just flagging that shows it as being a narration track rather than “regular” audio.
