Nice, how did you match it up to the coax and what type of coax?

I made one almost like that but used a 300 ohm to 75 ohm baulen coil (used for TV antennas) to match it up to the coax.

On that type of antenna it's dual element, that means both side are active, if you connect it to an unbalanced coax (RG-6 or RG-8 type, center conductor and shield) you loose one half of the antenna, thus the baulen coil is used to transition to the coax.

Did you do this?

Unfortunately a wind storm took it down last year, (and part of the garage shingles) so I switched over to a Diamond Super discone antenna, works quite well for this application.

A meteor sat is going over now looking at the tracking it is not surprising that I do not get much from them.

Could they be shutting it down (modulation) when it's not over Europe??

I think that they are out of range.I think one of the problems with Satdump is that it scans satellite passes that are way out of range. Not getting a signal

But the last pass of the Meteor 2-3 satellite was almost right over me, but I got nothing.

I've got several hours before the next set of birds is over my location, giving up for now.

That's a nice one, just got up so I'm moving slowly, will check the data in an hour or so.

OK something has gone fubar again, satdump keeps crashing, right in the middle of the last pass NOAA 18 it crashed, and it wont run.

Might have to dump it and reload, I don't know why all of a sudden I'm having so many problems.

My SDR console works fine on the satellites, may take a look at the Meteor satellites as they go over to see if they are transmitting over the US.

Meteor 2-3 is extremely flaky atm - the majority of the images are poor. I'll process the next pass & see what happens.

EDIT - well I would have done if I hadnt shut the bloody software down by mistake!

OK kids, it looks like it was a bad SDR receiver, (the new one) it was full of harmonics and noise spikes, this was causing the satellite frequency's to be all mixed up with junk, thus all I was getting was junk, went back to the old SDR receiver and I'm now getting good data.

I got the new SDR for the extended receive range (2300 MHz) the old one only goes to 1700 MHz if that. (gets noisy after 1 gig)

What I'm getting now with the old one, waiting on a replacement on the new one.
