I got a Humax ircr-5400 box from a friend and have connected it up to my dish for a spare TV.
I have been searching in vain for my local area (North East) channel numbers.
One site listed 975 whick I tried but was not it.
Any help appreciated.

Well we need to know is your humax patched? what saterlitte is your dish pointing at if its not motorized, you can update your channels with software like humbox 4.1 I also live in the North East and been using my humax for about 7 years there is not as much on them now but still some good stuff its all over the world, saterlitte is not really local stations and for us most of it now is on 1west (Thor) and you will need at least a 80cm dish, I will help you all I can just let me know if you need it.

My dish was installed about a year ago I believe its set for Astra.
I had it installed for recieving HD its using a Humax Foxsat box.
I took another lead from the dish for a bedroom TV.
The Humax IRCI-5400 box has not been used for about 5year so I doubt if it has been patched (what ever that means)
What does patching do? and if neccesary how would I go about it?
I am getting all the channels on the 5400 its only that I am having to go through them all to find the local ones.
For instance BBC1 for the North East and Cumbria is listed on the internet as 975 but that does not work for me.

Thanks
wallie

Check lyngsat and try scanning for the channels you want, or adding them manually:

Hi Wallie
Well as Mickha said you can scan for the channels you want and judging by your last post you are using a sky dish which is fixed to 28e and if thats all you want it for fine but it will do a lot more than that e-mail me if you want more details email removed admin

Can we keep the conversation going in this thread please. This is so that everyone can benefit from the (eventual!) solution.

Also, it's not wise to post your email address in open forum as you can set yourself up for all sorts of spam and trouble.

The problem here is that you are trying to associate Freesat Channel numbers with a non-Freesat Box!

On your Foxsat (Which is a Freesat Box), BBC NE&C is on 975 (and on 101 if you enter an appropriate Postcode upon Installation).

On the other Humax (Which for this purpose is an FTA box, but NOT a Freesat Box), Channel numbers are not fixed in any pre-set fashion and what channel number is ascribed to Channels depends upon what you scanned and when you scanned for Channels.

After loading Channels, you are entirely free to use the editing features of the Receiver to move (renumber), delete, rename, categorise, etc entirely as you wish.

The Freesat EPG however, like the Sky EPG, is a pre-set EPG used on Freesat branded Receivers. It is not used by your IRCI-5400 though, as that is a generic Receiver, not a Freesat Receiver.

I've moved this thread to the 28E General section as it's not really anything to do with international.

Thanks PaulR,
After my first post I thought this is going to be a long thread, which will have been covered in this forum many times as for my e-mail never thought about that
Thanks again
