Can someone help me or give me advice. If this post is in the wrong place and any administrators monitoring please feel free to move the post to the right location.

I am looking to build a HTPC. The HTPC will be based in Hungary. I am trying to find a good quality TV Card with CI slots. Whether it has 1 or 2 CI slots depends, whether you have CI slot card where you can share the signal after decrypting. IF you have I guess 1 is enough, if not, will need 2.

Important thing is that the CI slot cards needs to have as much decrypting possibility; it MUST be able to handle Cryptoworks and Nagra3 which is the one UPC Direct use.

Can anyone make any recommendations?

Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the forum i4u

I have moved your post to the appropriate satellite PC card section.
What specific subscription cards and which CAMS are you planning on using in the CI modules as this may be a factor in any advice given. The Ci slots are common interface slots and a cam need to be inserted into it. However I suspect that you are planning on programming cards yourself, forget it as Nag 3 is secure

Hi, We have a UPC Direct (Hungary) paying TV service with 2 set-top-box, and want to get rid of it, keep paying for the service but do not use the set-top box, just only the 2 code cards. So, this media pc I am building has to have 1 or 2 CI slot at the back. 1 or 2 depends, whether you have CI slot card where you can share the signal after decrypting. IF you have I guess 1 is enough, if not, you will need 2 with 2 dual tuner card I guess. Important that CI slot card please choose with as much decrypting possibility, but it MUST be handle to handle Cryptoworks and Nagra3 which is the one UPC Direct use.

Does the above help?

I am puzzled as to why you have UPC Direct in both encryptions (Cryptoworks AND Nagravision 3) instead of just one of them?

Tell me this, is there a DVB-S2 card with CAM CI slots that can decrypt Cryptoworks or Nagra3? Is there one out there? It can be one or the other.

Have a look at the Technisat website

The SkyStar HD 2 + CI Slot HD 2 should give you a possible solution.
Then you need to add a suitable CI CAM and insert it in the CI slot and last insert the smartcard.
There should be other possibilities. Do a search in the net.

You could also look at FloppyDTV, has a single CI slot, good software and is apparently S2 compatible (not tested it my self). Only downside is that it requires a FireWire connection, does'nt seem to work with DVBDream as well as the Skystar 2 card and is considerably more expensive.

As an alternative, you could try to get hold of a Twinhan VP-1034, has CI, cheaper, but not HD. Also not sure about DVBDreams support.
