My Satellite Setup
Dreambox8000 - Image Enigma 2 - PC WindowsXP
My Location
Egypt
I am residing in Egypt and willing to establish satellite dish system in my private villa

The system comprises of 5 Dual Linear Universal LNBF’s, pointing to 5 satellites, connected to 3 Digital receivers one of these receivers is Dreambox 8000 equipped with 2 tuners, thus forming 4 virtual receivers.
The LNBF’s shall be fixed to 3 Dishes:
Dish 1 shall be motorized by USALS Stab motor.
Dish 2 shall be equipped with 3 LNBF’s pointing to Nile Sat, Arab Sat & Hot Bird Sat.
Dish 3 shall be equipped with the last LNBF pointing to Amos Sat.
Also the system shall include a terrestrial antenna VHF/UHF.

The system shall include, in addition to the Universal Linear LNBF’s, 3 Multi-switches 3x4, one Multi-switch 4x4, 4 Diseqc switches 4x1 and 4 Diplexers.
The connections between all these devices are shown on the attached diagrams.

Questions:
1. Is the wiring system shown in the diagram correct?
2. Is the location of connection to Stab motor correct?
3. Are the locations of the Diplexers correct?
4. How to set-up of Diseqc switches in the Receivers software will be to access the four LNBF’s in particular Arab Sat and Hot Bird connected to 4x4 multi switch?

Tanks a lot for valuable assistance.

Hi, I don't think your system will work.

For a start, multiswitches need to be connected to quattro LNBs so that you can get both polarities and bands, so it needs 4 inputs.

Also since you have 5 satellite inputs, one of them being a motorised dish, matters are more complicated.

Also your terrestrial feed would not be received by all swithing combinations, as only one mutiswitch has the aerial connected to it. The diplexers apear to be in the correct place though.

What may work is using a 17x4 multiswitch alongside a 5 x4 multiswitch,in conjucton with four 2X1 uncommitted switches to switch between them, though I don't know if the uncommitted and 5x4 multiswitch would work OK through the motor, nor if the terestrial feed would make it through the uncommitted switches or the motor.

Thanks Robbo for quick response.
Actually my proposed connection diagram was derived from diagrams shown on the site:
_http://www.galaxy-marketing.com/switch-installation-diagrams-for-multiple-fta-receivers.htm
for connecting 4 Dual Linear universal LNBF into 3x4 multi-switches.
Also I read about 3x4 multi-switch function that it will combine both satellite and terrestrial signals into one signal running through the 4 output single coaxial cables and the following 4 Diseqc switches 4x1 as well, till it is un-combined back into the two original signals by 4 diplexers before entering the 4 receivers.
But I now suspect that the terrestrial signal may not be received by a receiver (thus not shown on the TV) unless the Diseqc switch connected to that receiver has been switched to port D by enforcing the receiver to a satellite channel bound to that port D.

Those diagrams are useless for the satellites you want, they are from an American site. I know nothing about the sats over there, and their terminology is different. But from what I can gather, the diagram you have derived yours from is based on a single band system with only the polarity requiring to be switched, thus the multiswitch requires only two inputs i.e a 'dual' LNB is required to cover just the two possibilities.

Wheras for Hotbird, Nilesat, Badr etc and the european sats we can see, we need a universal LNB on Ku band,or for a multiswitch 4 inputs , i.e Hi V,Lo V,Hi H, Lo H. C -band I presume is different though, but Hotbird doesn't use that.

It appears also that the American definition of a dual LNB is different to ours, we'd call that a twin, but each output would be universal, thiers appear to be single band.

BTW please kill the live links, site admin does not permit them.

Actually the American description is correct, two outputs, one horizontal and one vertical, unfortunately, since the introduction of the Universal LNB in Europe where dual LNBs became redundant for use on multiswitches, the name has been mistakenly applied to twin LNBs (two identical outputs) in the UK over the past few years and stuck. But as of course original dual LNBs are no longer available in the European market, it doesn't matter too much.:)

First I would like to thank all for the valuable assistant advice you gave me. :)

I have revised the proposed system diagram to suit the 4 polarizations (Hi-Vertical, Hi-Horizontal, Low- Vertical and Low Horizontal) Satellites covering Europe and Middle East using Triax multi-switch 17x6T, outlets and 4 nos. quattro LNBs to receive 4 Sats distributing to 4 receivers as shown on the attached diagram.

Questions:
1. Is the wiring system shown in the diagram correct?
2. Is the location of connection to Stab motor correct?
3. How to add the 5th. Satellite to the system and where to connect its LNB / switches to enable all subscribers to receive it independently to each other?
