Kindly guide me to set my skew correctly for Sat W3 against the 12 hour clock from where I am in South Africa.Dishpoimter indicates -28.9 degrees. The cable from the LNB facing the dish must that be in line with 7 o'clock. Please explain if the information is correct how it is arrived at.

For a normal LNBf that would be correct, indeed.
Dishpointer.com accounts correctly for latitudes above, and under, the equator.

Edit later: But what longitude is "SAT W3"? I did not take that into account.

I think that the best way to proceed is checking the signal with a good meter and rotate the LNB to get the best skew.

My Longtitude is 19.26 .Not having a meter and with dishpointer indicating -28.9 degrees equating to 7 o,clock(the cable from the lnb) facing the dish, can a member kindly indicate how 7 o,clock is arrived at mathamatically.

Forget maths - be empirical and bung it roughly in the ball park. Then just adjust as necessary using the Quality readings on your receiver as a guide. Calculations look good, but in practice their value is diminished by small discrepancies in all aspects of how the dish is constructed, installed and aligned.

there are 360 degrees in a circle, and 12 hours in a clock circle. Ratio: 360:12, or 30:1.

So 30 degrees rotation means a rotation of one hour on the clock: from 6 o'clock to 7 o'clock.

28.9 degrees is about 30 degrees.

But now the most important question: Why do you want to know? What is puzzling you?

Thanks A33 and Enosat.A33 let me unravel the puzzle. This is an Africa situation with many Zimbabweans and Malawians working in South Africa. They want to watch their national tv in South Africa and make use of the satellite.Zimbabwe is on 7 East and Malawi was on 5 East now W3.
I have been helping my Zimbabwe friend to install and adjust dishes, hence wanting to get the skew settings correct.
Whilst writing,, can someone direct me to a simple polarmount set up which I can copy. This of course takes care of the skew. For the record I have two 1.2 meter polarmount set ups.At my age of 88 I am still very interested in satellite technology.

Have to say that I have never set the skew on dishes using stated figures, I use my meter quality reading, by far the most accurate way of doing it. Even with an inexpensive receiver based meter, as long as it has a quality reading, it is accurate.

If you use polarmount the setting is more complicated.
