Hi all,
I know that this topic has been done to death, but I currently have a Sky+ box set up on the main television in my flat, but would like to set it up on another set in the bedroom. I have been researching all the various posts on here on this topic prior to this, but really have a few very basic questions as I am unsure about all the terminology.

Firstly, is this legal without purchasing the 'multi-room' option from Sky? I keep reading conflicting things about this.

I have read about doing this both by running a cable between the rooms, and by the use of a video receiver. Could somebody please advise me of the pros and cons of both (I would be looking at the easiest possible way of doing this!).

Is the 'magic eye' device purely related to being able to change channels from the second room, or does this go beyond this?

Also, once I am equipped with this knowledge (scary thought!) is it safe for me to set this up myself, or is it something that a professional should be doing?

Thank you so much in advance, and sorry for my ignorance!!

Welcome to the forum.

Sky RF distribution is certainly legal. System will distribute the sky RF channel to multiple points. Can be done with the use of a UHF distribution amplifier and for IR control, one that supports a return path.

For one additional RF connection, simply run a cable from RF2 out of the skyplus receiver to the bedroom set. Purchase a remote eye and control the sky box from that location. You'll need to switch on RF2 power on skyplus for the eye to operate.

Other option is as mentioned, a video sender. They come in all shapes and sizes including IR control. Okay for short distances but for better picture quality, hard wire it via RF.

Easy enough for a non professional.
