My Satellite Setup
UniCable LBN (Polsat Cyfrowy)
My Location

Hi all,

Happy New Year! ;-)

I have a Unicable setup (it's a Polish Polsat Cyfrowy thing.... equivalent to our Sky). The LBN is Inverto Unicable something like this (Inverto QUDL42 UNI2L), so one uniCable output + 2 legacy. I'm only using the Unicable to my Unicable compatible receiver). Now I switched to multiRoom set up so will have for now Unicable receivers in 3 rooms). Wanted to bring one cable to a central point and from there one cable to each room.

Now one of the installers (but somebody who doesn;t understand UniCable) suggested to me to remove that and get normal quad LBN and use Multiplexer and send one cable to each room where I will be able to have both satellite and TV arieal signal on one).

Can I do something like this with my current LBN? So only one cable (Unicable signal) to the centre place with a splitter/multiplexer and from there one cable with satelite (unicable signal) + TV terrestrial in one to each room? Or if I want just Unicable signal do I just need a splitter? What kind? But ideally it would be nice to have both signals in one cable. Worst case scenario, which is not a big problem to be honest as I can easily have two cables going to each room (one for Unicable signal and one for terrestrial TV). What kind of splitter/device do I need assuming I can get one cable (input) for Unicable and one for TV terrestrial to a central place and than send all the necessary cables to each room

Or please suggest device for each option as one might be cheaper then the other and like I've said there is no problem for me to have to cables to each room.... in fact I already have it on one room as I didn't even know at the time you can send both signals in one cable.

Thank you in advance for all the help.

Kind regards,

Radek

You will need a multi-switch setup for the LNB inputs, and a terrestrial TV antenna input, this will run both signals out to all receivers/TV's and give you the terrestrial TV via a diplexer at each TV, one output of the diplexer will go to the TV's antenna input, the other will go to the satellite receiver..

A switch something like this one would work.

And for the diplexers, something like this will work.

A smart splitter should do it, there are more than enough User Bands on the LNB to run three unicable receivers. Just make sure they all have different UBs selected.

As far as I know, a diplexer in combination to a Unicable/JESS setup should work fine. As long as the OTA antenna doesn't need power supply; that makes things more complicated.
For a splitter in a SCR setup you need a splitter with diodes: ONEWAY power pass. Not sure if the one rolfw mentions does that.

That one indeed clearly shows the arrows, for the direction of one-way powerpass. :Y

At least one splitter in a SCR-path (the one nearest the receivers) should have this diode.
When using multiple (cascaded) splitters, also splitters without the diodes can be used, for the first part of the cascade...
(so, these could also be called unicable-suitable. You never know how the mean it. The splitters are also UHD-suitable, etc, and other marketing-terms.)

hi all,

Finally managed to connect all my satellite boxes and unfortunately it's not working.

So I have one cable coming from the yellow output on my LNB than it goes via passive splitter 5-2400MHz and then through another passive splitter (maybe that's the problem that it's going twice!). So the picture on the second and third satellite receiver is not working. Also two receivers are not Unicable I think so not sure if they can work this way.

Could something like that work? Id doesn't for me and not sure if it's the splitters or what.

You can't mix and match via splitters, all receivers need to be unicable.

HI, Thank you..

So if I replace receivers that would work right? I was told that I need special multiplexer or something Unicable compatible.

Your also going to loose 7.5 dB of your signal on the first one, then anothet 7.5 dB on the second one, 3 dB is one half of your available RF voltage, so the two end TV's sets are going to have a very weak signal at their input

Ideally you would use an SCR Smart splitter, it prevents collisions, but I have used passive wideband splitters successfully.
