My mother recently moved in to sheltered housing in Cromer. Cromer has poor Freeserve cover, but her flat has a communal sattelite dish with a simple double arial wall socket (Sat anf VHF). I obtained a Bush SD box to see what could be received. So far so good but the BBC1 channel (101 on her list) comes up first and it has significant drop outs and in addition no Channel 4, Channel 4+1 nor Film 4 have signals. I have found that London BBC is perfect but I cannot swap London for East with this Freesat box, plus you loose the regional interest.
I have changed the face plate, coaxial cable from plug to box and the plug in to screw on connectors. Is there any point in obtaining an in line, plug in, signal booster? and if so would a simple (and cheap!) type work? and would the type used for "normal" terrestrial signals work? I know this is not that technical, but neither am I. Any advice most appreciated.
