My Satellite Setup
TM-5402 HD with 1m Gibertini on STAB HH100 coming soon!
My Location

I had the new Inverto quad ultra fitted yesterday on a fixed Sky mini dish. I'm waiting to get the motorised dish fitted!

The signal on the TM5402 is showing 98% level but only 76% quality. Why would the quality be so much lower when it was showing 88% on the old Sky LNB?

Thanks

If the LNB is not a specific one designed for a Sky dish it won't be seeing the right shaped dish so the quality will be lower. Otherwise perhaps it's just not performing as well as the old LNB on the frequency you measured or the dish or LNB arm is not aligned well any more (some LNBs are heavier and may make the arm droop so it's not in the optimum position for collecting signals for the dish).

The dish was checked and aligned optimally so I was surprised to see the low quality. It was an old skyline Sx 719 QS before but one of the outputs went down.

Yes, but the Feedhorn of your new LNB is not shape-matched to a BSkyB type dish.

The LNB you now have is designed for use with a dish that is marginally taller than it is wide, not for a squashed jobbie like the Minidish.

In practice, the difference in Signal Quality will not make the slightest difference to your reception on 28E.
