Freesat with Pace DV3 box

I have an old skydigibox, a Pace DV3 about 7 yrs old that I use with a sky freesat card, they issued a new one to me just before xmas. Last autumn for a few weeks I was getting a problem that in the evenings the signal would vanish then all of a sudden it was OK. Now I am having problems again ... every channel says " no satellite signal" but if you go through the sky info and re-set you get it all come on for between 30 secs and 2 mins max. Obviously there are no problems with the dish or nothing would come on so is it feasible the box is knackered? Freesat operator was totally disinterested other than running through the basic re-set which as I said bought the signal back for a tiny period only.

Dont want to go and buy a new box and find still a problem? Any ideas would be appreciated as Im disabled and TV is my only entertainment as Im on my own for a few weeks and not in the least technically minded and engineers call out fees are silly if its something easy to rectify?

Thank you very much.

Welcome to the forum.

Moved your post from 'Satellite PC Card Receivers' section to the Sky digital/Astra28e area :)

Sounds very much like a receiver fault there. Is there anyway you can test a friends or neighbours digibox on your dish to confirm or try your box on there's ?

i agree with satelliteman
if you can check the rceiver at a friends hould and it works ok the problem is in the line or the lnb itself.
there is a short circut protection in the box, if there is a small sliver of outer braid that is tuching or close to tuching it can
cause the box to show no sig or even go to standby mode.
if the box works no problem at a friend's house then it is the line or even the lnb or even the connector by the lnb is black or green with oxidation.
hope this helps

That DV3 logo actually says DVB !

Probably the worst designed technical protocol trademark ever.

DVB is not exclusive to your Pace Box as it refers to Digital Video Broadcasting and applies to most (if not all) current Digiboxes.

Anyway, if you look elsewhere on the box (possibly underneath) you'll find more details about exactly what Pace model you have - but I'd lay odds it a BSkyB2x00 (you fill in the "x" !!)
