My Panasonic digibox is approximately 8 years old and is maybe due to go into retirement. The problem is that occasionally the sound will just disappear but comes back if I just nudge the viewing card. Is this fixable do you think? PS I've dried dusting the viewing card, switching on and off etc.

Just a thought, but have you checked that your Scart lead is in tight? Could reinserting the card be nudging the bow enough to overcome a dodgy connection

My Sony digibox does this, it is easily solved by changing channel and then back again

Actually it is getting worse. Today I've got channel 5 and a couple of the news channels (BBC 401 and Sky 1) and everything else seems to be pixelated and broken up.
On checking, the digibox is about 10 year old. I've re-set it, including the LNB setting, checked connections, replaced cabling. The signal strength and quality are at about 70%. though the quality bar keeps moving to about 80% then back down.
No handy person to swap digi boxes with to try and source the problem. But I'm thinking in view of the age of the box it might be better to replace that first, rather than get someone up on the roof as the alternative option. What would you do?
