Is there anyway to check without calling Sky to see if a Sky box has been blacklisted?

No - only Sky can tell you that.

Would I be right in assuming that your question is closely connected to http://www.satellites.co.uk/satelli...eneral/162724-will-old-sky-cards-cut-off.html ??

Absolutely. It looks as if our old Sky card has now been cut off thank goodness as we have been paying twice for Sky. We had been loaned a sky plus box to activate the "proper" card which we are paying from our UK address. Unfortunately it says System Fault Sky plus playback and recording are unavailable. Have phoned Sky who have tried twice to get it working with no results. Could be the box is faulty, I don´t know. So we would like to get our original Sky box working again with the official Sky card but wonder if Sky now know that the blue and yellow card was in Spain and could have blocked the box. My God that is complicated. We could just phone them up but are worried that they may then stop our card linked to our UK address.

hello
i don't think boxes are black listed.
there is so many boxes bought on e-bay that were someone elses
the we had cards mated up no problem.
i had a box go bad,and ordered one on e-bay years ago and had a card mated to the used box i bought and it has been working ever since.
always good to have someone in the uk call sky.
give them all the information and box id number and say you bought it used if they ask.
if they don't ask don't tell them.
give all the card information and all they ask post code in the uk etc.
the now you should nhave the card mated to the card.
