These new HD single tuner boxes will be supplied for new installations of multiroom setups from the middle of this month, the remaining SD single tuner boxes will only be supplied as service replacements of existing SD boxes.

The boxes apparently have an HDMI connection, scart connection, USB and Ethernet, but no RF loopthrough. It is possible that ultimately these single tuner boxes will be connectible via network to the main HD box for use of recorded programming and Anytime content.

It will have to. Any one who has a Sky+ as their main box is going to find it very hard to change their viewing habit back to watching live TV just because they are in another room. I assume these boxes have a viewing card slot too for use in the meantime.

I dont agree B-P - many folks still only ever use their Sky+ for recording stuff on another channel or when they are out. (Basically as a fancy video player) They arent particularly bothered with chase play and fancy tricks like that so lack of recording facility wont really make any difference..

Well yes, as they are being launched as a free standing single tuner box, the comment about Ethernet connection is my input, nothing from Sky. The vast majority of my customers with multiroom have a single tuner as their second box, unless they've upgraded from Sky+ to HD and even then the single tuner box goes into another room.

The box is the Amstrad DRX595, lauching 15th March and also now outputs 5.1 DD via the HDMI port so hopefully this will be coming soon to the HD+ boxes.

If they use this box for FreesatFromSky instqllations then it would give non PVR freesat installations stiff competition with Sky's FSFS lineup of 10 extra FTV channels (11 at present until Channel 4HD goes FTA)

I had heard a rumour along those lines and posted as such earlier on AV Forums
