Lads,
My Sky Sports 1 HD has disappeared, no satellite signal is being received, on an Irish Sky card here in Italy. Other Sports HD channels not affected. Anyone know if it's switched to a spot beam????

It may have moved to 10.862GHz/H which is on 2E UK spot as it has been testing there for a while.

It's not great and it's strange they decided to put this on a spot (ex-Disney transponder - they moved to a Europe beam). As far as I know there is nothing else on that transponder yet but I can't check right now as I also don't have access to the UK spots.

God damned Sky HD box won't tune in a 29500 symbol rate though!

This is a new version of Sky Sports 1 HD with Irish ads we talking about, the above are UK and Pub versions.

The Irish subscription card should probably still work with the UK version of sky sports

But you can't manually tune these HD channels in on a Sky box, so you are stuck with the version Sky give you.

Really? This means sky boxes are so crap..
Then the only solution,if this tp doesn't switch to European beam,is to use a different satellite box

Sky boxes are (generally) great boxes if you use them for what they are designed for in an area they are designed to be used in.

perhaps changing the address on the subscription is the way forward. although i'm not sure UK-Irish subs are interchangable. i guess its not just a simple address change. plus, you would need a UK friend who allows you to use his address (unless you have one of your own)
or you could go down the dreambox route: using your viewing card there...could be tricky, though, from what i've heard.

It also depends if he has a particular reason for having an Irish subscription, for example subscribing to an Irish sport channel that shows a 3pm kickoff

You're spot on dvdfilm, I have Setanta on the card as well for 3pm saturday kick offs. But I'm irish anyway and the card is registered to my Irish address. I have a VU+ Duo as well but the card only opens the SD channels now with this new pairing system that Sky are using, total pain.

True! I had forgotten about that.So the only option to get SS1 HD seems switching to a UK subscription in order to have it on the sky box EPG,although Setanta would not be available

Can anyone who has done it report what happens when you move from ROI to UK (or vice versa) ? Do they have to issue a new viewing card or is it just like moving within the country.

Hmm that's odd. Sky Sports 1 Ireland is on 2A North, I'm not aware of it moving. Does your dish pick up the north beam OK? Can you still get Sky Atlantic SD, that is on the same transponder (12.148H).
