Hi,

New to all this, but I have searched the forums for an answer, found similar questions and answers but was just hoping for some clarification.

History: Just moved in to a new house (rented, so cant do much to it) which has been completely refurbished. It has aerial sockets in each room, but when connecting a TV to them there is no signal. I have searched for an amplifier box but am unable to find one and cannot locate where the aerial enters the building. I have managed to get a sky cable installed (by changing the LNB on my neighbour's dish, and connecting to that with their permission) and connected to my Sky + box.

Now... can i connect an aerial cable from my Sky box to the aerial socket and send the signal to TVs in the other rooms with aerial sockets installed? I have seen other questions like this but all had answers which talked about loftbox amps, but I am unable to locate one and as I cant find an aerial feed wouldn't be able to connect one.

Mant thanks in advance!

There maybe a pre-amp on the aerial or an amplified aerial [active] which will require powering via a 12v power unit.

You can do this if not requiring a UHF feed also on a single run,... but there maybe a separate return feed to the loft. In any case, you'll need a distribution amp to achieve that :)

Thanks for your swift response. Firstly, cant see anything on the areial, but how would I power it with a 12v power unit?

Secondly, could I put the distribution amp in between my Sky box and the aerial point instead of in the loft?

Many thanks again for your valuable help!!

The IR distribution amplifier should be placed where all cables / feeds terminate. You'll need to do some digging around to find them.
