Hi all. I live in Slovakia and I have an IllusionSat M3 conax receiver which gets the BskyB signals (from the southern sat signal, i suppose), but even the free stuff will not come in.

What I'd like to know is MUST I have a skybox to see the programs?
I see sky cards for sale all around...can I use them?

I've seen various opinions on some of these subjects here.
If anyone can offer advice, I'd appreciate.

Thanks in advance.....

you should get the fta channels , otherwise a sky digibox is needed for the pay channels

also do you have a big enough dish to get them

I get about 315 channels from Astra 2d, and of those 97% or so are scrambled somehow. The fta channels I do get are mostly sales/shopping things...no bbc or anything that has actual programs to watch really.

Not off 2D you dont - 2D doesnt carry anywhere near that number of channels. You might get that number off the entire constellation (2A / 2B / 2D / Eurobird 1)

Unfortunately, the vast majority of the free channels are shopping / religious / tarot rubbish etc. If you want the decent stuff you need to subscribe.

From the look of it, you will need a dish of 2m or more to receive the BBC and ITV channels.

If your dish is aligned to Astra 2, it sounds like you are receiving 2a and 2b,-but NOT 2d.Are you getting 12207v(Sky News)?. Most,if not all of the transmission frequencies from 2d start with 10***,,22000,5/6. But,dont forget,There are quite a few watchable free channels from Eurobird 1 at 28.5e with, hopefully, the same dish set-up. You may have to do a seperate scan for Eurobird,or input the frequencies manually.
