What new features does the Skystar 2 card have over the Skystar 1?

Reason being, I've been offered a dirt cheap 1 card - but if the Skystar 2 has loads more features and functions, I may as well wait and invest in one of those?

Tried Google but couldn't find any comparison data

It's the other way round. 1 has more features than 2.
One feature that springs to mind is that it has a TV Out connector, and if I am not mistaken, a possibility to add a CI CAM.
But it is an old card and there is no support for it.
Personally I wouldn't touch it.

I believe there were two versions of the Skystar 1, one with an outboard CAM module, and one with the module incorporated. Also they have hardware decoding, easier on your CPU.

As HB says, not much support now, although I think the later version of DVB Viewer will work with it.

There are two skystars 1 -

One with CI module is nothing just rebranded TwinHan VP1031, with software mpeg decode and so on.

Original SkyStar 1 has hardware mpeg2 decoder (only actual if you have pentium 2/3) and tv out.

Original SkyStar1 is limited in Symbol rate (range is 8000-30000 afaik), while Skystar2 can handle 1000-45000.

Ah, just the original one with hardware decoding. Sorry.
