Ref the Lidl Metal Grinder - came in useful during the week for something unanticipated. I'm still having to replace one or two fence panels and posts, and a rotten post caused me a problem because, when I got the old one out, I found that I had concreted a steel "Metpost" post support in the ground, and the replacement I was using was one of those with an "L" profile "spike" on it - but the spike was far too long and "bottomed" in the old post support, and needed to be shortened by about 6". Found that it would not fit under the grinding wheel of the Grinder with the adjustable workpiece clamp in place. So I removed that and was then able to put the "L" shaped part of the spike on the Grinder base and cut first one side, then the other, and finally, by laying the partially cut spike on the base with the right-angle at the top, was able to remove the remaining metal between the main part and the sharp end of the spike. Not a "pretty" result but relatively quick, easy and safe as compared to trying to cut the spike off with a separate angle grinder. Still had spend about 1/2 hour grinding down the edges of the remaining part of the spike with the bench grinder so it could be hammered down into the old Metpost - but it all "worked" in the end, and the new post and 1 of the fence panels were installed (On Wednesday, not today, thank goodness!)
