Hmmmph, finally got in touch with Sony (their contact site is very confusing) and is seems that if I want the Freeview to work, I have to get a genuine Sony Service Centre to fix it, possibly at cost, which is a bit annoying cos the fault is with the software, which should have been updated long ago (but we didn't get any notification about it!!!), and they don't really plan to do anything about it!!! :mad:
