I was absolutely shocked at the racist abuse from the Spanish crowd. I actually go quite often to Spain, and I always liked it there, but I must say that I never thought they are as racist, ignorant and imbecil. Shocked! I am glad my kids did not watch the game....If I was in charge I would have walked off with the whle team in protest!

And before all our Spanish friends jump up and say: I am not racist, it did not happen, it is only a minority, these were only a few hooligans etc etc I want to point out:

A football crowd is like any other crowd. You will find in it people from all walks of life. So if in a stadium thre were hundreds and thousands of people making those disgraceful noises from all corners of the stadiu, it is clear that there is a widespread racist leaning in the Spanish nation. You might argue that this problem only exist in Football in Spain. But if you look at the position Football has in the Spanish society, and the crowd numbers every single game you will find that it is more than just "football". Same as in England.
Englands own football troubles have been tackled hard by UEFA and the FA. The question is does the Hooligan problem mean that the English are "violent"
the same as the Spanish are racists? I believe there is an issue connected to violence and drinking in England, and I hope that this will be sorted out as well over the years. Football hooligans should be dealt with in the strongest way possible, but give me a drunk hooligan any day over a stone cold sober racist.

Futhermore, the Spanish coach issued a racist remark some time ago, but was not sacked and no action taken. I cannot dare to think that if the England manager made the same comments he would not have been spanked.
See what happened to Atkinson....

And finally: The England football crowd has a terrible reputation, UEFA has threatened to expell England from major competitions if this persists. I believe a lot has been done in the UK to try to stamp this out, and I might say it does bear fruit.
I would want the useless Sepp Bladder and his gang of corrupt money grabbing bas***ds do one time the right thing and make an example out of Spain. It won't cure the racism problem, but it would make sure black players will not have to hear those chants.

It was very poor of the spanish, and while we brits are tarnished with a bad reputation for some reason other nations are not looked down upon as us and fifa should make spain play behind closed doors for a few qualifiers to teach their fans, and in many respects the spanish coach since he talks out of his ({}) a valuable lesson, that such behaviour won't be tolerated under any circumstance.

I agree...

It makes one wonder if the game should have been stopped and an announcement make that if the abuse continues England would be declared the winners... (or is that too much you Guys??)

Either way something needs to be done.

guys - sure it is disgraceful but it happens and will continue to happen although the cases should be isolated - how can we stop these people from getting into grounds they're gonna get in somehow - its not widespread - but for the isolated incidents the players just have to try and get on with - i dont know of any british grounds where this goes on week in week out

I think that playing behind closed doors works. Fans will soon behave themselves if they are deprived of their footy, as Roma fans will no doubt tell you!

Let's face it, you can't stop someone being racist but you can stop them spreading their filth.

Its quite simple really....the Authorities should throw Spain out of the World Cup and make sure they do the same to any other countries that display the same racist taunts. Animals!!! they are not fit to support the magic game. Well that’s my feelings vented!

What really amazed me was, where were the police and the stewards? If that happened in an English ground I'm sure for one the rest of the crowd would not tolerate it and two the police or stewards would act. It just showed how intrincent racisim is in spanish society that so many people thought it was acceptable. Last night had massive throw backs to the 80's in England when racisim in football crowds was widespread. In this day and age this sort of behaviour is just not acceptable and the Spanish game should suffer. I think they should deduct 3 world cup points. That will get the "fans" thinking about their behavoir.

Also ofcourse it happened at the under 21 game the day before, so it's not exactly a suprise so I also blame fifa and the two fa's for their lack of forsight. They should all shave their heads, smear jam on their backsides and let the bull out of it's enclosement. :D
