stream FTA update

Hi Forum

I am terribly new to this. I have bought a Stream FTA 1000 while in Northafrica. It has no slots but was updated to receive all TPS channels + others. This is apparently required each month.
I came back equipped with an RS-232 or is 323 ? and started looking for firmware but in vain.

Can anyone help with a tutorial or links ? I am also interested in H** off line .

If its this one:

StreamSystem BM-1000 FTA: DVB-S, 4080 Ch., FTA then its a rebadged Kaon.

although the front page has a lot of flash crap on it. The site gives some useful info, but there doesnt appear to have any software on it.

According to the receiver comparison site, these all appear to be the same rx

Digiquest 7000S: DVB-S, 4080 Ch., FTA

Digiquest 7000T: DVB-T, 1000 Ch., FTA

StreamSystem BM-1000 FTA: DVB-S, 4080 Ch., FTA

Ariza/ BlackBird/ CyclonePro Ultra 400: DVB-S, 4080 Ch., FTA

Although you may want to avoid any software for the 1000 channel rx!

Thanks again Analogue, but I am not suire I understand ur last comment. My RX is 1000 channels , are u saying I should not update it ?

another one, can I backup th ecurrent image in case update goes tits up ?

I understood this bit:

StreamSystem BM-1000 FTA: DVB-S, 4080 Ch., FTA

to mean you have 4080 channels available. If you have indeed got 4080 channels, and you flash the receiver with software designed for 1000 channels, then it could end in tears.
