My actuator is stuck which I have used for many years.I am of the opinion that water got in and rust is the reason for non movement.I am sure that from time to time a post must have appeared describing how to take apart an actuator and give it a service.Members kindly assist.

I think Vipersan has had various discussion threads about faulty actuators. Try a forum searh

Hi -
First thing to do - remove the motor part from the screw shaft ....(one bolt at the bottom of the shaft - under the motor ) then try to operate the motor with the receiver to check that that part is ok ..... if it is - then it will be the screw shaft that is rusted and seized up (most likely ).. some older jack shafts can be dismantled - newer ones are built not to be (although its not impossible) .. post a picture of the bottom of the shaft when you have removed it .... some are much easier to deal with than others.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Put some paper down first before you dismantle, some motor designs catch the water just upwind of the gearbox and after a few months can be both brown/black and smelly.

OpenBox X5 on a 1 meter motorized dish.
And now a 10 foot "C" band dish.

Custom built PC

Deep in the Boonies in the central Sierra Nevada mountains of California.
Before you take it all apart or dismount it from the dish, check to see if you have DC voltage to the motor, you should have +- 24 or +- 36 volts DC (or close to those voltages) at the two larger wires at the motor, this when the receiver try's to move the dish to a new satellite.

If you have nothing at the motor then check your wiring first, also check at the back of the receiver for the same voltage.

As far as I know all 24" actuators carrying Echostar sticker have been produced by Venture so should you need any documentation or spare parts, you might want to contact them in Akron/OH.
