Hi
Being a complete noob I recently put up a minidish and bought myself a Technomate 5300D+usb
I have patched it with the latest patches and the softcam key
My question is what extra channels will this allow me to watch and on witch satellites, I know I am limited with the dish I have put up but it was free so I thought I would give it a go
Also the technomate 5300D+usb comes with a card reader what will this allow me to do could I purchase a sky card and watch the sky cannels could I buy a card and programme it myself to get extra channels
Any help would be grateful

Considering the dish you have you have a couple of options.
The first is to point your dish at Astra 1, 19.2E, where you will pick up the German Premiere package, which has quite a few premium channels, with an English audio option.
You could also try Hotbird 13E, as the latest patch, for your receiver, claims to have the TPS package working, and also Polsat is open.
It depends what type of viewing you are looking for.
Premiere has the better options for films and sport although Polsat and TPS have different options.
As you get into this hobby you will discover that you will need a bigger dish, and a motor would be a good idea, so that you can move your dish, to the best satellite, using just your receiver.
If you like football, and English Premiere league games, you might want to consider a subscription to DigitAlb, on 16E, which shows a lot of the football games, but for that you will need a bigger dish.
For now try positioning your dish on Astra 1 19.2 E and scanning in the Premiere channels, this should give you a taste of the satellite hobby.

A minidish will more than likely have problems with 23.5 for sure.

Get yourself a Motor and a proper dish :-rofl2

Penta 85cm will do just the job. ( you said it first, LOL ) :D

RE the card reader, if your not going to subscribe to anything then leave it.

SM :)
