Hi Everyone - Some advice please.
I have just put up a new minidish for the sky FTA stations with the intention of replacing the old dish with a motorised one. However when I was up at "dish height" I noticed that my house roofline is higher than I thought . I am now wondering if it will interfere with the arc as I go from E to W. (The dish is on the garage wall overlooking the house and doesn't block 28E but it may do as it moves further W)
Are there any other satellites I could check for reception using a sky box (if there are, how do I go about setting up the box) before taking the plunge and getting gear that I may not be able to use.
Any help appreciated.

No because the box won't boot if it can't receive the EPG from 28E.

OK - Thanks for the reply Huevos.
I have ordered a Konig Finder, if I can get signals from it can I assume that the roof isn't an issue and a Technomate will pick up the satellites?

Thanks Again

To know if the roof is blocking you just use an angle gauge (inclinometer, clinometer or digital level, etc).

Yep, you can check dishpointer for the approx azimuth angle, and an inclinometer to check if the roof will obstruct.

You could also get one of those realy cheap sat kits from screwfix for £40, not to much to pay out, and would let you have a 'play'. You could use the receiver for Freesat afterwoods so it would't go to waste, or sell it.
