[QUOTE="Rachel_Sandford, post: 769058, member: 368463"] At 1am on Monday, police received a phone call reporting a smash-and-grab at the Apple store in Covent Garden, central London. According to the witness, a blogger who was camping outside the store in order to generate publicity, around seven masked men on mopeds and motorcycles broke one of the store windows and took a significant number of Apple devices including iPads and Macs. The combined value of the stolen merchandise is unknown, but police suspect it could be thousands of pounds. The suspects were reported to be wearing full-face crash helmets and most of the bikes were carrying a pillion passenger. Police in Islington spotted a moped believed to be in the raid, and they tried to stop it, but had no luck. A similar vehicle was found abandoned at Wyclif Court in St. John Street. At present, the police have two people in custody in north London. They were both arrested at the scene on suspicion of burglary after police found property, believed to have been from the store, in their bags. One suspect is a 16-year-old boy and the other a 21-year-old man. “Although two men are in custody on suspicion of burglary, the inquiry continues and other persons are sought. It is essential that anyone who saw the smash and grab, or the suspects making off, contact us as soon as possible.” Detective Sergeant Nathan Tozer of Westminster CID. So far the only witness was the blogger who said the event was “Really annoying as I was having an early sleep and was out for the count.” Those with information should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555-111.
