TONIGHT reporter Georgie Barrat investigates how hackers can put our security at risk.

In 2017 the average UK home is now more connected than ever before. Many of us own devices which are Wi-Fi enabled, and connect straight to the internet - from smart TVs and baby monitors, to smoke alarms and fridges.

Collectively these bits of technology are known as the Internet of Things, and by 2025 it’s predicted that there will be over 75 billion of them in the world - which equates to at least 10 for every home.

Why would ANYONE want their fridge connected to the internet????

And the devil will be skating to work before I put a Google or Amazon voice activated box in my house.

True story - I was visiting my parents a few years ago and my mum was dead proud of her new win10 laptop with Cortana. So I picked it up and said "Cortana can you go f**k yourself?" My mum face was an absolute picture. Sadly my Midlands accent foxed the useless pos and I never got an answer - then my mum confiscated the lappie before I could try again
:-lmao

If you can unlock your house with your iPhone (or other type) then so can someone else.

And to Analoguesat, that way it will tell you to pick up some more beer before getting home.

Just think of a time in the future where you can only get into your home with a hand held device (other then a key) and POP goes a large solar flare, oooppppsss locked out for the duration, looks like a long term camping trip in the back yard.

And I dont need to lock my house also don't need to take the keys out of the car, I have a fence, Dogs and Smith&Wesson for security.
