Since 1987, the German based International Federation of Football History and Statistics have honoured the best world goalkeeper based upon yearly voting from a list of candidates. All specialised media (press, radio, television) plus a panel of experts make up the selection jury. They take into consideration the performances of goalkeepers with their clubs and national teams.
Each country has one vote, the bigger soccer countries have two votes.
