A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

UK
A Toyota Yaris from 1998 (or thereabouts) which is a Japanese import.

Their FM at the time was on a different set of frequencies, 75-90MHz. So all the radio gets in this country is two stations.

I have been advised it might be possible to update with a component change in the tuner, but I have no proof. I'd prefer not to buy an inline frequency extender, but would consider a UK version from the breakers if there is no conversion.

Problem is, this box has both cassette and CD player, so my next question would be, did the UK Yaris have something similar on the dashboard ?

My year 2000 Irish Yaris has a cassette radio. Look on Youtube for this link and similar and it will show you how to fit a replacement radio. Not something I would take on to do myself but maybe you have the skills.

Thanks, but that video has no connection with the console of the Yaris outside this house. The radio shown is different, and I have already taken it out to have a gander inside (hence the images above). The one I've purchased has air conditioning, so only one control for ventilation.
Manual supplied is Japanese only.

Not the same car, but cd/radio/cassette appears to be the one.

I use a Stateside company called "Crutchfield" they have a great custom radio selection guide, but I don't see that model listed in the Toyota section, is there a close one like your car? here is a link to their international phone listings.

They may be able to help.

I use them as they have a drop in setup, if you want a particular radio they supply a custom bezel to fit like an OEM job, and all harnesses to hook it up.

And I found this right after I posted.

But I'm on planet Glenfiddich today, and they may have a cross over to your year.

Hard to tell with these new fangled inventions, I was stumped for a long time when Orrkookkook invented the wheel.

Then there is the red neck way, find something that is close and smack it in with a BFH, then use some bondo, a touch of paint and you would never know.

Or just duck tape something to the transmission hump.

No satellite stuff for the moment (aside from a 43cm minidish that was on the house already), Samsung SyncMaster T27B550 Smart TV & Monitor, and a few computers...

I'm surprised nobody's pointed out the well-tested Japanese FM converter:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161397898856

Though you only get about a 15MHz spread on a Jap radio, rather than the usual 20MHz spread we do... :)

Of course, you could also convert to a Honda Civic instead... :p
