Hi,

I am going away on holiday in June and was wondering if someone could recommend a usb satellite receiver for my laptop please? My dad does have a portable satellite but he passed away 11th October 2018 and we do not know where he put it. So I was thinking of using a satellite receiver on the laptops instead please?

Thank You

Something like the PCTV DVB-S2 461e stick would be fine.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

I remember using a branded Pinnacle stick quite a few years back, which looked suspiciously like a Happauge, used a Montage 2022 tuner.

I'm not sure if they are still beng made though.

You're comparing the receiver you are linking to with what?
It's not a USB receiver.

Doesn't your laptop have WiFi?

You were considering ordering an antenna in the other thread. Or are you looking for something bigger?

To receive satellite signals with a laptop, you need two things apart from cabling, a satellite dish and a USB satellite tuner device. You could use a Freeview USB device and receive terrestrial broadcasts, however for signals that are coming from a satellite in Ku band you need a dish.

Two models of USB tuner device that come to mind are the TBS 5925 and the TBS 5927.

The antenna is for WiFi - you will still need a dish to use with laptop and USB receiver

Perhaps the O/P is actually after IPTV via his laptop, either that or he is just a wind up merchant.

I did spot these combo (DTT, DSAT & cable) USB receivers on Amazon - considerably cheaper
