Hi guys just following on from a previous thread.
Having only recently got into the satellite experience I am amazed with some of the HD content out there. Melodyzen. WOW. As I understand it channel 4 are transmitting in HD but it uses the Videoguard Encryption. The Free Sat card from sky lists C4 HD as a channel that is available. Now to watch this channel through my current receiver is there any cams that actually decode the videogaurd encryption? Then I could just pop the card in. Or maybe another option would be to get a dual LNB and to run a Sky box from it and put the card in that. Then im thinking as its not a HD box then I wouldnt be able to see C4 HD. Shall I just give up whilst im ahead or be thinking that its going to be putting a big hole in my pocket. C4 seem to be showing quite a few films in the evening as im not aware of any FTA HD channels that do unless I speak German or French.)(-red:-Guill

Your receiver, when patched , may allow a Sky card to be used. The MVision ST-5 does apparently. You would still need a Sky box though to keep the card alive.

you need a HD receiver to watch HD channels. HD is mpeg4, not mpeg2, and most transponders are DVB-S2, not DVB-S, so your (non-HD) receiver won't even be able to locate those frequencies.

He has a HD box, an MVision according to his profile.:)

Just the Sky box that he has, that isn't.

Hi and thanks for your replies.
Ye my receiver is an HD Box, hence able to watch the FTA HD channels. I have used GXMax.com before to patch my receiver. Im never really sure as to what its actually doing to my receiver though. It seems to wipe everything out back to factory settings once patched. But then it says its been updated. Any other ideas of sites to patch an Mvision HD 200 Combo?? Do the sites actually tell you what your uploading to your box. As kindly answered in a previous thread I was told that a Diablo/T Rex Cam may decode a Videoguard encryption although when researched it doesnt actually tell you that. Looks like I may have to buy a Sky HD box from somewhere and then maybe the Free Sat from Sky card. All to watch C4 HD. Perhaps I will give it a miss. Unless someone out there has done it. Ta:-cry1

It depends on what the patchmakers put into them. For my receiver the patch did get me Ch4 HD via the Sky card. Have you tried the latest patch for your receiver? Have you tried a Sky card in it?

If you google you should be able to get the latest software, gxmax.com for example.

A Sky HD box I would have thought, would cost more than an a Diablo or TREX with a programmer. There are plenty of posts on the forum with people using those CAMs for Sky subscription cards and FresatfromSky cards.
