She looks fantastic back on the main line - FS is due to come down our Borders Line in mid May so that day will be set aside to chase steam trains :D

Of course I did. I'm a Yorkshireman!

In any case, we had Colleagues from Iran, Saudi, Malaysia, Canada, Australia, lots of other places. Birmingham too.

Not many Virgins, though.

Maybe you did not stick out ethnically/racially:)

But off topic now.

Yes, off topic, but interesting non the less.
If I remember correctly , Poole was one of the primary SBS training areas, but may have been a tad later.
Either way , we know you´re a good guy , regardless of colour or creed!

Getting back on topic - I wonder where the rescue engines were stationed - there is always a "Thunderbird" engine not too far away as you dont want to block the main line if theres a breakdown

often a class 57 although when I was at Shildon rail museum a couple of weeks ago Deltic 55002 KOYLI was being prepared for the summer Scotsman runs. For example a diesel is needed at the Edinburgh end of the Borders steam trains as they forgot to build a suitable run-round/turning facility at the end of the line.....

Loco end station turning table ( setesdalsbane norway ) closed 1962

Poor quality photo due to age of original, but you get the gist of AS meaning:

Virgin train photobombs Flying Scotsman - BBC News

Good on Virgin Atlantic - good publicity for them :D

Virgin are good like that. Some years ago there was some rail incident that seemed to drag on, but no-one wanted to take responsibility; a few weeks ;later, a Virgin train derailed near Carlisle, if i remember correctly, and there was RB... on the spot (the man's a jinx - only joking)
